A Blessed and Magical Trip in Bhutan

Dear Sonam

Kuzuzangpo La !

Thank you so much for helping to arrange this last minute trip of mine to Bhutan. It was a blessed and magical trip for me in Bhutan.

I was also blessed to meet with Her Majesty the Queen Mother, Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck and HRH Princess Sonam Dechan Wangchuck on our descend from Tango Monastery on my second day. It was privileged to have met them and spoke to them.

In addition, I had three beautiful encounters with the rainbows during my trip, on the first day at Thimphu, third day at Punakha and sixth day at Bumthang. The last encounter with rainbows was really overwhelming for me. I saw not one rainbow but two rainbows with the second one forming right in front of my eyes outside Rinchen Ling Lodge at Bumthang. Both rainbows grew bigger and the sight was amazing and unforgettable.

I enjoyed myself at both Nimalung Tshechu and Kurje Tshechu at Bumthang wearing the provided Kira. It was really a nice gesture.

I was very mesmerized by the natural and magnificent scenery and landscape of Bhutan. Despite long journeys on some days, I was still enjoying myself on the road. No photos could do justice and no words could describe this beautiful Kingdom and one must see it in their own eyes.

Lastly, without my guide (Ms. Kinley Om) and driver (Mr. Dorji), I could not have enjoyed myself so much as a solo traveller, both of them were both very professional and had taken very good care of me during my 11D10N trip in Bhutan. They were just perfect as a team. Kinley was a caring guide. As I experienced car sickness on my first day, she took the initiative to request for ginger tea from the restaurant and on subsequent days from the hotel for our long journeys. Fortunately, car sickness was only experienced on the day of arrival. The rest of the journey was perfectly fine for me. Mr. Dorji on the other hand was a safe and cautious driver especially important when taking on muddy and bumpy roads and during the monsoon season.

The hotels I stayed were great and they are really beyond the three-star rating. One suggestion is to have just one bed for solo travellers. It was kind of strange to have two twin beds in a room for me when I was at Bumthang. Some of the hotels combined two single beds but it would be uncomfortable sleeping in the middle as they did not wrap the two beds into one. Only at Hotel Norbuling, they managed to merge two beds into one and wrapped it up so that you would not feel uncomfortable taking the centre space. Other than that, I am pleased with the hotels stayed.

All in all, I enjoyed myself in Bhutan and looking forward to my next trip to Bhutan soon.
