My mum and I visited Bhutan for a week
My mum and I visited Bhutan for a week, from 12th to 18th September, with Soul Trips, and I was thoroughly impressed with the level of service at every point of contact. Sonam was our first point of contact, and the entire process—from booking the trip to arranging our preferred accommodation—was seamless. Every question I had was answered within the day, which provided a great sense of assurance about traveling to a place so different from home.
Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by our guide, Kuen Ga, who introduced us to Tshering, our driver for the week. Meeting these two gentlemen was a true blessing.
Tshering, our driver, always gave us a heads-up about longer rides and was more than happy to stop whenever we wanted to take photos. Every day, he ensured we had a fresh bottle of water, keeping us well-hydrated, which was very much appreciated.
Kuen Ga, our guide, was incredibly kind and accommodating. He carefully planned our daily itinerary, always asking for our preferences and checking if there was anything else we wanted to see that wasn't on our original plan. On our second day, we visited the Thimphu Tsechu festival but missed the much-anticipated masked dance. Knowing how much we wanted to witness this, Kuen Ga went out of his way to arrange for us to visit the celebration in Gangtey, where we were finally able to enjoy the masked performances. We also had the opportunity to tour the Goenpa monastery, where the festival was held. Later, he organized a cozy picnic with fellow Singaporean travelers—a heartwarming experience that will forever be ingrained in my memory of Bhutan. I also must mention Kuen Ga's patience during our hike to Tiger's Nest. The hike was particularly challenging for my mum, and we needed to rest every 5-10 minutes on the steeper slopes. Kuen Ga was incredibly encouraging, even offering to carry my mum's bag to lighten her load.
He was also very knowledgeable, patiently explaining and sharing stories about the various deities and masters of Buddhism. This not only enhanced our experience but also sparked a genuine interest in Buddhism, motivating us to learn more. We feel truly blessed to have met Sonam, Kuen Ga, and Tshering.
