Travelers from Sydney can visit Bhutan by taking Drukair flight from Singapore or Bangkok. This is currently the most convenient way to enter Bhutan. There are two weekly flights between Singapore and daily flight between Bangkok and Bhutan.
Singapore Paro route was introduced by Drukair in September 2012. The route would include a transit in Kolkata. However, you would not require Indian transit Visa as passengers who are enroute to Paro do not have to disembark from the plan during the transit.
Do Australia Nationals need Bhutanese Visa?
Yes, Australian require Bhutanese Visa. A physical copy of the Visa must be show during Drukair check-in at the airport. Bhutan Visa is granted for one time entry for the duration of the travel only. So a traveler seeking a one week stay in Bhutan would be granted a one week stay beginning on the departure date. Tourist visa can be obtained from authorized travel agency such as us.
