Drukair Bhutan Singapore Inaugural Flight

Drukair's inaugural flight from Bhutan to Singapore took place on August 28, 2012, with a delegation led by HRH Chimi Yangzom Wangchuck. The event marked the start of direct air travel between the two countries, facilitating tourism growth. The flight's arrival was followed by a photo exhibition at Changi Airport showcasing Bhutan's culture, along with a celebratory dinner for delegates and local partners.

Drukair inaugural flight from Paro landed in Singapore Airport, Terminal 3, today at 1330 hours.The flight brings a delegation of 45 members from government ministries, Drukair, Tourism Council and a private sector. The delegation is led by Her Royal Highness Chimi Yangzom Wangchuck, the eldest princess of the royal family.

Singapore is the fifth country to be linked by Drukair with Bhutan. Over the past three years, there has been a fast growth in the number of visitors from the island state. The number of travelers is expected to grow with the direct flight.

After which, it was the opening of Bhutan, The Untouched Kingdom photo exhibition at T3. This exhibition will officially begins on 1st Sept in conjunction with the first arrival of commercial flight from Paro to Singapore. The exhibition will last for three weeks and feature photographs, Bhutanese costumes and items. There is an also an archery room for visitors.

The celebration is followed with a dinner at Mandarin Oriental with attendees from both Bhutan delegation as well as Singapore consisting of local partners and travel agents. You can also read more information on the Singapore - Bhutan direct fight here.
