Drukair has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for a new Airbus A319 with Sharklets. Sharklets is a the name used by Airbus on wing protrusion technology that is expected to cut down fuel consumption by 3.5 to 7 percent, or a reduction of 700 tonnes CO2 released annually.
The new A319 is expected to enter service in 2015 and will serve the new Singapore Paro route that is expected to begin in September 2012. The new A319 will complement the other 2 A319 that Drukair is already operating. A319 is currently the biggest aircraft serving Paro airport.
